Videography: Frequently Asked Questions
Why are HD cameras so important?
HD cameras are important for 2 main reasons:
1. There are 2 types of video cameras available. Standard Definition (SD) Cameras and High Definition (HD) Cameras. HD cameras can produce many times more resolution than the best SD camera ever could, providing a sharper, more detailed picture. HD cameras also properly shoots video in a 16x9 ratio using every available pixel while a SD camera can only produce a 4x3 picture ratio. The 16x9 ratio is the format used in high definition televisions today.
2. HD video IS the future of home entertainment. High definition video will be used for years to come while standard definition video will be obsolete within a few years. Your wedding video will instantly look outdated if it’s not shot in HD.
WARNING: Many wedding videographers will say they use "3-chip, digital broadcast quality" cameras. Remember, these cameras are still Standard Definition (SD) and can't come close to the picture quality of High Definition (HD).

Yes, we offer Blu Ray technology for a small additional fee.
How will you work with my photographer?
Cooperation between all vendors is critically important to a successful day. Our videographers are experienced and highly trained professionals and easy to work with. Professionalism, respect and proper etiquette is the backbone of Mike Staff Productions.
How long will it take to receive my edited video?
Most Michigan wedding videographers take 6-9 months to complete your video. Our clients have told us that is unacceptable, and we agree! That's why we employ a full time wedding videography team of professionals. Mike Staff Production's Videography service is raising the bar in Michigan. We guarantee that you will have your video within 12 weeks* after your reception!
* If we do not have your edited treasure back within 12 weeks after your wedding day, we will pay you $100! All you need to do is make sure you have provided us with your music selections, pictures, etc. before your wedding and we will commence editing immediately!
How intrusive will you be on our wedding day? (Hint...not at all!)
Your videographer will remain "behind the scenes" while capturing the essential footage required to make an interesting, emotionally charged and fun to watch wedding video. We capture the moments that happen naturally, and leave most of the staged shots up to your photographer.
Furthermore, we don't use any lights at the church and only non-intrusive camera-mounted lights at the reception. We've seen videographers with an obnoxious amount of lights that disrupt the event...rest assured...we're NOT like them!

YES! Jason Chevatewa, our Director of Video Production works full-time leading our video department. With over 20 years experience shooting wedding videos in Michigan, Jason is a well respected leader in the wedding video industry.
Will a DJ be editing my wedding video?
No … absolutely not! This seems like a funny question to us, but we understand why you may ask it. We are aware that some area wedding companies offering multiple services such as DJ, Videography and perhaps, photography, will often have DJs editing video or designing wedding albums. At Mike Staff Productions, all of our departments are independently managed and staffed by experts in their fields. Your video will be beautifully edited by an experienced, full time video editor.
Is it OK if I make copies of my DVD for friends and family?
Some companies will go as far as copywriting your video to legally block you from making copies on your own. We believe that you paid for your video, so you own it. If you would like to make additional copies on your own, or share your video on Facebook...go for it...it’s yours.
