Raechel and Patrick’s Wedding at Saint John’s Resort

Our Wedding: July 08, 2022

“The Mike Staff Productions experience was remarkable!  The entire team – from booking, to day of, to coordination of videos/photos after was fantastic.  Everyone was quick to respond and showed a true concern for ensuring our day and experience was perfect. ” – Happy bride, Raechel

Our Love Story

One week in February, we had both endured a tough work week, and on Thursday Patrick suggested we take the weekend for a little trip away.  We went to Grand Haven, MI and stayed in an adorable house near the beach.  After a nice brunch and touring the downtown area, we decided to hike on the frozen beach.  Right as I was ready for us to take a selfie of us in front of the beautiful lighthouse, he got down on one knee and proposed!  And to top it off, he had a photographer following us and capturing the whole thing!

We didn’t have a lot of specifics to our wedding vision. What we knew we wanted was a church wedding and a reception to bring together our two sides with good food, good drinks, and dancing! That’s when we fell in love with the Saint John’s Resort in Plymouth, MI.

Favorite Wedding Moments

  • Bride: I have two favorite moments from the day – first, the doors to the chapel opening and seeing my groom for the first time. Second, our first dance.  We had worked for months on that dance and it came together beautifully.
  • Groom: Watching my beautiful bride walk down the aisle with her dad is at the top, followed by the fun pictures with our bridal party afterward and then our first dance!

Our Wedding DJ

DJ Josh was our professional wedding DJ and he kept the reception flowing seamlessly.  Not once did we worry about the schedule of the night, because we knew Josh had it covered.  He played such a great selection of music that our dance floor was non stop – so much so that he had to move his station further back to make room!

We chose “You are the reason” by Callum Scott for our first dance song.  We chose this song for the lyrics and the beat.  We felt the lyrics of this song were such that it could be a song that is meaningful to us throughout our relationship, not just at the beginning.  And as a non dancer, this song had a great strong beat throughout that enabled us to pair some key dance skills to each verse and chorus without getting lost.

Our Wedding Photography

Mary J and Dennis were our professional wedding photographers and they were amazing!  Mary started with the girls and made us feel instantly at ease.  She knew all the special shots to get of the pre-ceremony details.  She also knew how special sunset pictures were for us and kept an eye out to ensure we got them!  Dennis started with the guys and got some amazing fun shots of them pre-ceremony.  During the party, Dennis blended in so well that our friends wanted pictures with him!  We are so thankful they were with us on our special day.

Our Wedding Video

Getting a wedding video was important to us because the bride’s grandmother was unable to attend and it was important that we could have something to watch with her and relive it with her.  The icing on the cake is being able to relive it over and over and over again.  Sylvester got such fun shots that bring us such joy and help us remember such little details of the day!

Our Wedding Advice

The biggest piece of advice I would give a couple is to narrow down the items that matter most to you and choose those items to invest in when making decisions.  Photos and a video were really important to us and a big reason we went to Mike Staff.  A beautiful setting and good food were also important which led us to The Inn at St. John’s.  If we could do it again, we would make those exact same decisions!
