The Meeting House Grand Ballroom Wedding of Leah & Seamus

The Meeting House Grand Ballroom Wedding of Leah & Seamus: May 03, 2025

Mike Staff Productions gave us the best experience we could have asked for. Their team goes above and beyond the basic roles to make the day a moment to remember. The DJ, photographer, and Videographer I had were the dream team and really worked together to make our day so seamless and special. I could not recommend this company enough. – Happy bride, Leah

Our Love Story

Seamus and I first met in kindergarten, and after going through all of grade school together, it wasn’t until our second year of college that we reconnected when he asked me to join a co-ed soccer team he was putting together. Although the soccer team never happened, a friendship had sparked, and a few months later, he asked me out with a shell necklace that he had made himself. 6 years later, Seamus proposed! Seamus proposed to me on September 4, 2023, on the coast of Lake Michigan. We were in Luddington for a wedding and decided to extend the trip and make a vacation out of it. On our last day there, he asked to watch the sunrise on the beach. So at 6 am, we sat out on the beach waiting for the sun to rise. Looking back, I think he was too nervous to realize that we were on the wrong side of the state for a sunrise over the water, haha. But still, as we sat waiting for the sun, he set up a tripod and his phone to “take some photos,” but really it was set up on video and captured the most memorable and special moment. Everything worked out so perfectly, we had the whole beach to ourselves and the most beautiful golden hour.

What was your wedding vision?

The vision for our wedding was elegant, simple, clean, and romantic. Lots of white candles everywhere. I wanted it to feel warm and inviting.  A few favorite moments from our wedding day include our first look, our sunset photos, and dancing all night long. The first look was so special because it really helped ease all the nerves and gave us a moment together before all of the chaos started. It was so fun to sneak away for our sunset photos. Before our big day, we got some advice to take 15 minutes together and just take in the day and everything happening. Our sunset photos were that moment for us.

Wedding DJ Experience

Our professional wedding DJ was awesome! Shawn was outgoing and really knew what the crowd wanted to hear! One moment that sticks out in our mind is when he played Sweet Caroline during dinner, and the whole venue was singing to it. He could tell when things were working and would change it up if they weren’t. He passed out blow-up guitars and even had my 87-year-old grandma doing an air solo on one! The dance floor was always full the whole night! Our first dance song took a lot of time and discussion to decide on. For a while, everything suggested felt overplayed, lyrics didn’t fit, and it was too cheesy. Eventually, we decided to try slow dancing to songs to help choose. As soon as “Weight of Our World” by Chris Stapleton came on, we knew right away that it was our song; it just felt right.

Wedding Photography Experience

Our wedding photographer was amazing! He made the whole process so easy and a natural feeling. He really has an eye for what works and what doesn’t. He went above and beyond just taking photos, he helped with my train on my dress and helped me up and down, and even carried tissues for me when I started crying during our first look. The photos are going to be something we can look back on forever and share with our family in the future.

Our Wedding Videography Experience

Our wedding videographer was just as amazing as our photographer; he was so personable and even let a groomsman borrow his sunglasses for some photos when one of them forgot theirs. The wedding video was so important for us because we knew the day was going to go by so fast, and it was going to be hard to take it all in. Watching our wedding video back and seeing the uncut footage gives us chills every time we watch it. I love being able to hear our vows, the speeches, and all the other special moments of the day. One thing that I really love that I didn’t expect to see was everyone mingling before the wedding and during cocktail hour; those are the moments that I missed as the bride which I was happy to see.

Our Wedding Planning Advice

Honestly, just to not take it too seriously and be as present as you can day of. Something will always go not as planned, and that’s okay. Always remember the reason you are there and stick by your partner’s side the whole night.
