Desi and Luke’s Wedding at The Inn at St. John’s

Our Real Wedding: May 4, 2019

“[Mike Staff was] absolutely amazing! Our Detroit wedding videographer was very friendly, discreet, and we didn’t even notice him during our ceremony/reception, which was perfect for what we wanted! Would highly recommend.”

Happy Bride, Desi

Our Love Story

Luke and I met when we began working together as pediatric ICU nurses at the University of Michigan. We got to know each other as coworkers and friends, and then it dawned on us that there was much more in store for us. As soon as we started dating (and Luke would say even earlier than that!) we realized that God had placed us in each other’s life for a reason. After about 6 months of dating, Luke proposed to me on his 30th birthday at his parents’ house.

He got a chocolate cake with red roses on it (we shared an amazing piece of chocolate cake on our first date, and red roses hold special meaning to us). Our families were both there when his mom brought out the cake with everybody singing Happy Birthday, then it was set in front of us and I read it’s message, “Desi, Will You Marry Me?”. Luke then got down on one knee, pulled out a ring and asked me to marry him! And of course I said yes (and cried a lot of happy tears!).

Our Wedding Vision

I wanted our wedding to be like a spring-y, whimsical yet luxurious fairytale. Our colors were navy blue and sea-glass (a sort of pale sea-foam/sage), with accents of gold, white, and blush. We used a lot of types of eucalyptus, and to add some of our personalities, we also had a Polaroid guestbook, donuts, and a caricature artist!

Our Wedding Video

We wanted to capture the memories of the night, and the people there. We probably won’t get to have all our friends and family together again like that and who knows how long some of our guests will be around! Life is precious!

Our Wedding Memories

Honestly the whole wedding was incredible so it’s hard to choose a favorite memory. Meeting Luke at the end of the aisle was memorable because of the pure joy we both experienced. I also loved dancing with my dad (I bawled the whole time! Lol), and dancing with all our friends and family. It was amazing to just take a moment throughout the night and take mental pictures. We felt so much gratitude for all the people who helped us celebrate our marriage.
