Special wedding moments where it is just the two of you.
Your wedding day is supposed to be all about the two of you becoming husband and wife (am I right?) So, why is it so challenging for you and your husband to find any alone time on your wedding day? Maybe you want to shout ‘WE DID IT’ without being surrounded by hundreds of guests, maybe you want to take a moment to breathe, look into each others eyes or just laugh together.
Mike Staff Productions found eight special wedding moments during your day where you can do those things – one on one – without anyone else watching, maybe except the watchful eye of your wedding photographer and videographer. (Don’t worry, you won’t even know our team is there — that’s a good thing!)
One of the simplest ways to steal some time alone with your new hubby is by eating dinner at a sweetheart table instead of a head table featuring the entire bridal party. Is it right for you? Some things to consider:
- The table should be placed so that your guests and those offering toasts can clearly see you
- Large wedding party? it may be easier to have a sweetheart’s table.
- Perfect setting for you to whisper ‘sweet nothings’ to each or just talk about how hungry you both are (LOL)
Throughout the entire wedding day there are few moments that are more touching and emotional than the first time the bride and groom see each other — whether that’s when the bride walks down the aisle or a ‘first look’ is arranged before the ceremony. You know, when the bride is sneaking up behind the groom (above) and the groom is chomping at the bit to see what his soon-to-be wife looks like! (Let’s face it, all brides spend hours getting ready!)
Some couples are superstitious and think the ‘first look’ is bad luck but for others it’s a moment when it’s just the two of you, soaking each other in before the wedding day commences. It is such an intimate moment that is usually filled with tears, kisses and excitement and the photos… oh, the photos, forever emotional! There are a few different ways brides and grooms choose to see each other for the first time and they are all magical, and are the perfect moment to capture for your professional wedding film.
The NON ‘First Look’
Ok, if you’re one of those brides who says ‘no way’ to seeing your husband before you’re officially married — then this is the moment for you! There are other options that still allow you to share special wedding moments with your groom before the ceremony without him seeing you. Consider writing each other private notes that you both read right before the ceremony starts. Holding hands around the corner of a wall is another great option and can make for some very cherished photographs.
We understand that you’re not exactly ‘alone’ during the first dance, lots and lots and lots of eyes will be focused on you for a solid 2 or 3 minutes — no pressure! But this is a time when you and your husband can forget about all of those staring eyes and focus solely on each other and truly be in the moment. Your first dance doesn’t need to be choreographed or ‘Dancing With the Stars’ like — it just needs to be a moment for the two of you.
Does it get any better than sneaking away from the party to grab a few romantic photos outdoors as the sun is setting? (We think not!) Talk with your wedding photographer beforehand and let them know you’d like to capture these images — he or she can keep an eye on the time for you and whisk you away at the perfect moment. It’s a nice break from cutting a rug on the dance floor and the photos are a work of art!
