2021 Thanksgiving Message from Mike Staff

2021 Thanksgiving Message from Mike Staff

I love Thanksgiving.  Not because I’m a gluten for punishment in watching the Lions embarrass us again, but because I love the idea of the nation taking a time-out to reflect on everything GOOD we have.  In a culture in which so many people get lost in petty disagreements and where nobody seems satisfied with anything, my prayer is that today … at least for a moment or two … we can pause and thank God for the many, many blessings we have.  Here are just a few of the things I’m thankful for today (in no particular order).

  • My healthy, happy daughters, Bailey & Ella
  • My Mom’s health and sense of humor
  • God’s protection and promises
  • My dear friends and incredible co-workers at Mike Staff Productions
  • Healthy food
  • Google – it makes me smarter!  Haha
  • Tik Tok (I’m recently addicted)
  • Modern inventors like Elon Musk
  • CURIOUS doctors who think past the brainwashing from academia
  • Blue skies
  • Thunderstorms at night
  • The smell of fresh-cut grass
  • A simple connection by smiling at a stranger
  • Led Zeppelin
  • Air fryers
  • The Gym
  • Gracious people
  • Great books and the unlimited knowledge they possess
  • Family and great friends
  • Love
  • Health
  • The power of prayer
  • Bright Hope (BrightHope.org – check them out, they do amazing work)
  • The resilience of the American people
  • MacBook Pro’s
  • Joe Rogan
  • Warm Caribbean water
  • Barrio’s – my new favorite restaurant in Traverse City (try it!)
  • The unlimited knowledge that is always at our fingertips.  Amazing.
  • Super creative people
  • Clean water (something 790 million people in the world don’t have.  Think about that!)
  • Kind people
  • The Betsie River and it’s massive salmon
  • Dedicated teachers
  • America (despite our problems, it’s still the best nation on earth!)
  • Our military men & women (and their families)
  • The change of the seasons
  • The “Redneck Yacht Club” on Long Lake, Traverse City
  • Netflix
  • Forgiveness
  • The gift of being passionate about things in life.  Life is too short for “ho-hum”
  • The great outdoors
  • Campfires
  • Food pantries & shelters, and the incredible volunteers that work them
  • Belly laughs
  • My pickup truck (does this make me sound like a red-neck? Oh well!)
  • Football (even the Detroit Lions!)
  • Funny people
  • Coffee in the morning (or anytime)
  • LOUD music
  • Sandy toes
  • Tom Brady’s book “TB12” – my favorite book of 2021
  • Hunting camp
  • Heated blinds at deer camp (we’re spoiled!)
  • Sunrises
  • Sunsets
  • Metallica
  • Hot water to shower with (try NOT using it sometime. Yikes!)
  • People who don’t text and drive
  • Big dreams and worthwhile goals
  • My dog, Rox – she really does “Rock”
  • A warm home
  • Deep conversations
  • Shallow conversations (LOL)
  • People who give more than they take

Happy Thanksgiving and God Bless

Mike Staff
