4 Things You Don’t Need on Your Wedding Day

There are plenty of things you need on your wedding day…marriage license, wedding photographer, rings, snacks (lots of them), your hand written vows… the list goes on. You and your spouse have enough to worry about— either leave this baggage behind or assign someone from your bridal party to be in charge of handling it. Here are four things you don’t need on your wedding day.

1. Your Cell Phone

You’ll probably be receiving plenty of well-wishes texts on the morning of your wedding day. While these are all well-intentioned, there is no reason to consume your morning by responding to messages. Leave your phone behind, and focus on being in the moment as you get ready for the day. Respond to these messages the next day.

And if you’re hoping for some behind-the-scenes photos and videos of the day – in addition to your professional wedding photography – nominate a bridesmaid and a groomsmen to be responsible for snapping quick photos and videos. You can view, tag, and comment on photos the day after, as you’ll already be chatting about all the wedding day moments anyway.

2. Keys

House keys, car keys, and hotel room keys are bound to get lost on the morning of your wedding day. Leave these behind at home or at your hotel room, if you can. Otherwise, put a bridesmaid or a parent in charge of holding onto these items.

Pro Tip: Most hotels will allow you to check-in and leave your belongings in your room, but drop your hotel key off at the front desk until you arrive after your reception.

3. Honeymoon Luggage

If you’ll be jet setting to your honeymoon immediately following your reception, or even the day after, then you may need to bring your luggage with you to your wedding location. But since you don’t actually need these items on your wedding day, it can be very easy to forget about.

If you need your luggage at the end of your reception, put a bridesmaid or your coordinator in charge of ensuring your luggage makes it into your getaway car. If you’re not leaving until the next day, then leave the luggage in your hotel room or at home.

4. A Reception Dress

Probably one of the biggest trends we’re seeing lately is brides having a reception dress. Now, if this is something you want, then by all means do it! However, don’t feel pressured to spend extra on a second dress. Your wedding day will go by so quickly, so soak up every moment you can in one wedding dress.
