Tips for Staying Stress-Free During Your Wedding Week

Headed into your wedding week? Well, first off congratulations! Getting married is one of the most exciting things you can look forward to in life, but also one of the most stressful. Let’s review everything you’ve already accomplished:

  • Ceremony and reception planning
  • Creating a seating chart
  • Dress fittings
  • Cake tasting

… and more!

The week of your wedding, however, you’ll want to relax a little bit and enjoy this time leading up to your “I dos.” Here are some tips for how you can stay stress-free during your wedding week!

Get Plenty of Sleep

Fatigue is calling your name during your wedding week. Between finalizing all the details, greeting your out-of-town guests, and attending last-minute appointments, you can run yourself down quickly. Try sticking to your normal sleep schedule during this time. Getting your 7-9 hours of sleep can be very beneficial when you have a lot going on during the day and need the energy to get through it all.

Of course, your mind might be running circles thinking about how the wedding will go and if everything is planned accordingly, so, if you have difficulty falling asleep or getting to bed at a reasonable time, try out some of these sleep hygiene tips.

  1. Having a quiet and comfortable bedroom is a must if you want a good night’s sleep.
  2. Turn off any noises that could be distracting, such as the TV.
  3. Try setting the thermostat to a lower temperature. Generally, a cooler temperature can be more comfortable for sleeping.
  4. You will also want to make sure your room is dark, to help with this you can install black-out shades or purchase a sleeping eye mask
  5. Finally, make sure your bedding is comfortable for you. From your duvet to your sheets, everything should feel comfortable and soft on your skin. Try out some of these sleep hygiene tips and tricks during your wedding week so you can get optimal sleep!

Talk it Out

Wedding planning and the events leading up to your wedding day can be very stressful and also cause you a lot of anxiety. It can be hard to stay calm during the chaos. If you find that your stress and anxiety are getting the best of you and impacting your daily lifestyle, consider seeking online anxiety treatment

Sure, maybe that sounds extreme, but if talking with your mom or close girlfriends isn’t cutting it, a mental health professional can help you with de-stressing techniques and strategies for handling your anxiety. This can also be an opportunity for you to discuss any wedding things that might be bothering you or have been particularly difficult to deal with. Talking with someone that is objective and not involved in your wedding is helpful.

If you’re more comfortable talking about wedding stress with your bridal party, future spouse, or someone else, go ahead but make sure they are okay with discussing this with you before you vent. You won’t want to be in the middle of venting and accidentally offend someone or cause drama. Whatever you decide, get that stress out by talking to someone, don’t keep it bottled up inside, and continue to build anxiety.

Finalize Everything

One great way to alleviate the stress you might be feeling is by confirming everything is all set and ready to go for your wedding day and the events leading up to it. It can be very stressful to not know if certain details are not confirmed. Whatever the case may be, finalizing the details with your vendors, bridal party, and your wedding planner can be helpful. Be sure to write down all the details you confirm. Keep a log of things you have finalized so you know you’re all set with them.

If you’re super organized and prepared, try putting together a wedding week or day of itinerary

  • This will be helpful for your wedding planner or day of coordinator to ensure everything is running smoothly on time.
  • You can also make sure all of the important people on your wedding day have access to this itinerary too, so they can lead others if questions arise and also make sure everything is happening in a timely manner.
  • Confirming all details are finalized and ready to go for the big day will help decrease your stress levels during your wedding week by taking that extra load off your shoulders.
