Wedding Song Requests & Your Guests
Everyone has that ‘go to’ song that gets them fist pumping, singing at the top of their lungs and makes you forget what’s happening in life for 2 or 3 minutes. OF COURSE your guests will want to experience that moment at your wedding. So, if the DJ hasn’t already played it, your friends or family will likely want to request it. No problem. Where a problem may lie, is the way people ask for them. Here are a few tips and tricks from our professional wedding DJ’s when it comes to wedding song requests.
Don’t get your hopes up that your song will be played next.
We know you’re excited to hear your favorite song, but just because you make a request doesn’t mean it will be played right away. Our DJs are busy reading the room and making sure the night runs smoothly for the newlyweds. So, trust us to work your request in at the right moment. And if you don’t hear it after a while, just give us a polite reminder.
Be nice and watch your tone.
We all love to hear compliments and feel appreciated, right? So, don’t demand a song or be rude to our DJs. They’re human, too! A little kindness goes a long way, and who knows, you might even get on their good side and get to hear your song sooner.
Keep your distance from the DJ booth.
We know it’s tempting to get up close and personal with our top-of-the-line equipment, but please don’t. Our DJs work hard to set up their gear in multiple locations, and an accidental spill or touch could be a major party foul. So, keep the party going and leave the equipment alone.
Know what you want.
We’re all about keeping the dance floor packed with fresh tunes, but our DJs can’t read your mind. So, know what song you want to request before coming up to the booth. The more you know, the better chance you have of hearing your jam.
Dance like no one’s watching!
This is the most important tip of all. If you want to request a song, you better be out on the dance floor busting a move! There’s no better way to show our DJs that you mean business than by getting down to the beat.
