Detroit Wedding Videography | What to Look for When Hiring

Reputation

Has the wedding video company been in business for at least 5 years and have other wedding professionals heard of them? We hear a lot of horror stories about videographers going out of business without returning deposits, taking 6 months or longer to deliver completed videos

Quality

Is the finished product emotionally charged, interesting and fun to watch? Is the picture quality what you are used to watching on TV or does the camera shake often and seem grainy? How is the audio? Never settle for anything less than film-like quality.

Professionalism

Are the videographers dressed appropriately? Do they belong to any professional organizations? Do they maintain an office location with a full time staff? Do they return phone calls promptly? Are they easy to get along with and give you a sense that you are their #1 priority? Mike Staff Productions’ mission is to provide the “absolute best customer service that you have ever had, anywhere, and at any time in your entire life”.

Price

Most importantly, can you fit them in your budget? Are you pleasantly surprised by the price compared to similar quality work? Do their packages include a lot of value or do they try to “nickel and dime” you? Keep in mind, lowest cost usually means lower quality, while highest cost does not always mean highest quality.

Wedding Videography FAQ's

Your wedding day is a once-in-a-lifetime event, but your wedding video allows that day to live on forever. While some memories are bound to fade over the years, having every moment on film is a truly priceless benefit of hiring a Detroit wedding videographer. Getting to see and hear your spouse recite their vows, again and again, is irreplaceable. A videographer can capture that exact moment in time, in a way that photographs would never be able to capture. The same can be said of the toasts at the reception.

The length of your wedding video depends on how many hours your Michigan wedding videographer documents your day. You will receive both an edited wedding film AND an 8 to 10-minute highlight video with our 8-hour wedding videography package.  Overall, your full length, edited wedding film will be an average of 1-2 hours depending on your package.

According to WeddingWire.com, the average cost for wedding videography in Metro Detroit is $2400.  Our Detroit Wedding Videography prices start at $2,499. But you’ll find that capturing your wedding day on video is priceless.

In a recent survey, 93% of newlyweds who did NOT hire a professional wedding videographer regretted it, often as soon as the day after their wedding.. Additionally, newlyweds that used both a photographer AND videographer agreed that video does a much better job of capturing the emotions of the day, recording the history of the day, and creating a visual memory that future generations will enjoy more.

Every wedding is a little different and your wedding video should not look like anyone else’s. However, these are the common wedding videography shots that are often included in completed wedding films:

  • Ceremony
  • Bride and Bridesmaids getting ready.
  • Guys hanging out before the ceremony.
  • Video messages the couple may want to share with each other before the ceremony.
  • First Look
  • Parents being seated
  • Groom and groomsmen entrance into the ceremony
  • Processional with the bride’s entrance.
  • Vow recital.
  • First kiss as a married couple.
  • Recessional.
  • Romantics and fun before the reception.
  • Footage of reception room & guests.
  • Grand Entrance.
  • First dance.
  • Cake cutting.
  • Bouquet toss.
  • Father-daughter dance.
  • Best man and maid of honor toasts.
  • Party shots and dancing footage.
